Feed supply chain — origin to feeder
Feed procurement fails at the joints — origin to port, port to silo, silo to mill, mill to feeder. Each transition is a cost, quality and biosecurity event. This is the map of the whole chain.

Visual scope of procurement · supply chain
Origin to load port
Truck or rail from processor to port silo. Weight tickets, cleanliness certificates, transit time SLA in the supplier contract.
Ocean freight
Bulk vessel (Panamax/Handysize) for parcels above 10,000 MT; containers for premix, additives and specialty ingredients. Weather routing, laytime clauses, demurrage/despatch.
Discharge & port storage
Bulk terminal capacity, ship-to-truck or ship-to-silo, cross-contamination protocols, port sampling. Book capacity 8+ weeks ahead in peak season.
Inland transport & storage
Silo hygiene, insect and rodent control, moisture management (target <13% for cereals). Fumigation calendar with phosphine or alternatives.
Mill intake
NIR at intake, magnet + sieve, dedicated bins by ingredient to preserve traceability.
Last mile
Bulk feed trucks with cleaning protocol between species (mandatory to prevent cross-medication and antibiotic residues).
