Technical specification guide for poultry equipment
A technical specification (tech spec) tells suppliers exactly what performance, materials and standards you require. Weak specs create low-quality quotes and warranty disputes; strong specs create a level playing field and long-lived farms.

Performance vs prescriptive specs
Prescriptive specs name brands and models. Performance specs state the outcome (e.g. 'sustain 32°C internal at 42°C ambient'). Performance specs invite better competition; prescriptive specs are only right when standardizing across an existing farm.
House & structural
Insulation R-value, wall/roof materials, drainage slope, floor load, biosecurity vestibule, door standards.
Ventilation & climate
Target airspeed, static pressure range, cooling pad m², minimum ventilation rate, controller redundancy, alarm channels.
Feeding & drinking
Line length, drop count per meter, motor rating, pan/nipple standards, water pressure regulator specifications.
Standards & compliance
Reference CE / UL / ISO / OIE / local veterinary code as applicable. Require conformity certificates as a deliverable.
