Soybean Meal Procurement Checklist

Work through this checklist before issuing an RFQ and again before signing. It covers the specification, verification and contract mechanics that decide whether a soybean meal purchase performs as priced.

Short answer: Specify soybean meal by crude protein at a stated moisture basis (44% or 48% meal is only comparable at the same moisture), crude fibre, fat, urease activity and KOH protein solubility as the processing checks, origin and crush, mycotoxin limits with the sampling plan, GMO status where your market requires it, packaging, the Incoterm, and whether weight and quality are final at load port or at discharge. Protein alone does not define the meal — under- or over-processing shows up in urease and solubility, not in the protein figure.
