Premix and Additive Dosing System Planner

Plan premix and micro-dosing systems: number of additives, inclusion rates, batch size, accuracy, traceability and automation. Indicative requirements and quote checklist.

Indicative dosing requirements

  • Smallest dose per batch: 100.0 g
  • Allowed tolerance at 2%: ±2.00 g
  • Indicative scale resolution needed: ~0.67 g
  • Scale class: Consider a pre-blend or hand-add station — direct dosing is at the edge of practical accuracy
  • Dosing points: 8 dry dosing points + 2 liquid addition points
  • Traceability scope: Batch-level genealogy
  • Mixer homogeneity (CV below 5%) must be verified after commissioning
  • Carry-over and sequencing controls required where recipes differ by species or additive

Supplier quote checklist

  • Full additive list with inclusion rates and flow behaviour
  • Batch size range and number of recipes
  • Required dosing accuracy class and verification method
  • Liquid additions with temperature and viscosity data
  • Traceability, reporting and audit scheme requirements
  • Existing control platform and integration scope
  • Available shutdown window for installation
  • Budget range and approval route

FAQ

What does the premix dosing planner estimate?

It converts batch size, additive count and inclusion rates into indicative dosing requirements — smallest dose per batch, scale resolution class, number of dosing points and the traceability scope a supplier needs to quote.

Why does batch size change the dosing system?

The smallest dose in a batch defines the required scale resolution. A micro-ingredient at 50 grams per tonne is 25 grams in a 500 kg batch, which many standard scales cannot dose accurately.

Is the output an engineering specification?

No. It is indicative planning information only. Final design requires supplier engineering, calibration verification, nutritionist input and local regulatory review.
