Prime grades are typically contracted at 120 mg/100 g maximum, with premium LT meals well below that. What matters more than the number is where it is measured — a load-port TVN says little about the material you will actually use.
Do I need IFFO RS / MarinTrust certification?
Legally, usually no. Commercially, increasingly yes: aquafeed and export-oriented buyers are being asked to evidence responsible sourcing, and adding it later mid-contract is more expensive than specifying it upfront.
Is ethoxyquin still allowed?
It depends entirely on the destination market and has changed in several jurisdictions. Confirm the current rule for your import country and specify a permitted antioxidant system in the contract rather than leaving it to the producer's default.
How should I sample a fish meal shipment?
Composite sampling across the lot by an independent surveyor, split into three sealed parts — buyer, seller and umpire laboratory. Single grab samples are not defensible in a dispute.
