Least-cost linear programming
The formulator sets nutrient requirements (min/max), ingredient constraints and current landed prices; the LP solver returns the cheapest combination that meets all constraints.
Digestible nutrients
Modern formulation runs on digestible amino acids, digestible phosphorus and net energy — not crude values. This is why ingredient CoAs must include digestibility coefficients when available.
Matrix values
Every enzyme, emulsifier and functional additive is entered with a nutrient credit (matrix). Using or dropping a matrix is a €/tonne decision.
