バルクでの原料調達

要点

バルク取引では仕様は契約の半分に過ぎず、残りは物流、品質判定地点、決済手段、数量許容条項です。損失の多くは価格ではなく契約の仕組みから生じます。

要求仕様の定め方

  • Convert every offer to landed cost per tonne at your plant gate before comparing anything.
  • Fix the quantity tolerance and who exercises it (typically ±5% or ±10% at seller's option).
  • Decide where quality and weight are final, and appoint the surveyor in the contract by name or standing.
  • Match the payment instrument to counterparty risk: LC at sight, CAD, or open account for established relationships.
  • Confirm discharge capability — draft, berth availability, silo intake rate and free storage days.

Landed cost per tonneAll-in at plant gateThe only comparable number across FOB, CFR and DAP offers.
Quantity tolerance±5% or ±10%Determines exposure if the market moves between contract and shipment.
Laytime and demurrage rateStated days and USD/dayOne of the largest avoidable cost lines in bulk trade.
Quality determination pointLoad port / dischargeDefines who carries in-transit deterioration.
Sampling protocolComposite, three-way splitMakes any subsequent claim defensible.
Payment instrumentLC / CAD / open accountBalances price against counterparty risk.
Force majeure and washout termsExplicit, pricedDetermines cost of a failed shipment in a volatile market.
一般的に要求される認証
  • Feed-safety certification of the producing plant (GMP+, FAMI-QS, FSSC 22000 as applicable)
  • Vessel or container food/feed-grade suitability and previous-cargo declaration
  • Fumigation certificate and phytosanitary certificate where required
  • Certificate of origin for tariff treatment and trade-agreement claims
  • Sanctions and counterparty screening documentation retained on file
確認すべき試験報告書
  • Independent surveyor sampling, weight and quality report at load and discharge
  • Full contaminant panel appropriate to the ingredient and origin
  • Hold and hatch cleanliness inspection report before loading
  • Draft survey or weighbridge certificate supporting settlement weight
  • Retained sealed samples held by buyer, seller and an umpire laboratory
包装の検討事項
  • Bulk vessel for full or part cargoes where intake and storage allow
  • Container bulk liners for 20–25 tonne parcels and smaller markets
  • Break-bulk bagged cargo where discharge infrastructure is limited
  • Confirm liner specification, sealing and marking before loading
輸送の検討事項
  • Incoterms 2020 selection drives insurance, risk transfer and demurrage exposure — choose deliberately
  • Confirm berth, draft restriction and discharge rate before fixing the vessel
  • Track free time at port and pre-book inland haulage to avoid detention
  • Insure at 110% CIF value with cover matching the real transit risks
保管の検討事項
  • Verify silo and warehouse capacity against arrival schedule before the vessel sails
  • Segregate lots so quality claims can be traced to a specific shipment
  • Monitor temperature and moisture in bulk piles on a fixed schedule
  • Reconcile received, stored and consumed tonnage monthly to detect shrinkage early

調達リスク

Demurrage from slow discharge

対策: Realistic laytime negotiated against your actual intake rate, plus pre-booked haulage and storage.

Quality dispute with no defensible sample

対策: Contracted independent surveyor, composite sampling and a three-way sealed split.

Counterparty default on a rising market

対策: Performance security or LC, split shipments with new counterparties, and documented sanctions screening.

Currency exposure between contract and payment

対策: Hedge or contract in the currency of your revenue where possible.

Arrival before storage is available

対策: Arrival window clause tied to your silo plan, with staged discharge or bonded storage arranged in advance.

よくある購買ミス
  • Comparing an FOB offer with a DAP offer without building landed cost
  • Accepting quality final at load port while paying against arrival documents
  • Underestimating laytime and discovering demurrage after the fact
  • Leaving the surveyor appointment to the seller
  • Ignoring the tolerance clause and being surprised by 10% more cargo in a falling market

よくある質問

Which Incoterm should I use?
Use the one that matches the control you actually have. Buyers with freight expertise and port relationships take FOB and control the logistics; buyers without them are usually better off with CFR or DAP, accepting a premium for transferred complexity.
Is a letter of credit always worth it?
No. An LC costs money and slows the deal, but with a new counterparty or a large single cargo it is cheap insurance. Match the instrument to the exposure: LC for new or large, CAD for established, open account only for long-standing relationships with credit checks.
Who should appoint the surveyor?
Both parties should agree the surveyor in the contract, and each may appoint their own attending representative. A surveyor appointed unilaterally by the seller is not independent evidence in a dispute.
How do I compare offers fairly?
Normalise everything: same specification, same moisture basis, same Incoterm, same payment terms, same tolerance. Then add port charges, inspection, storage and inland haulage to reach landed cost per tonne.

Most import losses are documentation and timing losses, not quality losses. This checklist covers the commercial and regulatory chain from contract to plant gate.
