Feed and feed inputs
Protein meals and protein sources
Oilseed meals, by-product proteins and alternative proteins bought on a stated protein and moisture basis.

How do buyers compare protein meal offers?
Compare offers on the same basis: the meal type and extraction process, the analysis basis and test methods on a certificate of analysis for the lot, processing-quality indicators where they apply (for soybean meal, both under- and over-processing tests), contaminant results, origin and the delivery term.

Soybean meal
Best fit when: When the supplier can document that heat processing was adequate, with laboratory results.
Check carefully: Ask for both an under-processing indicator (urease activity) and an over-processing indicator (protein solubility); urease alone does not show over-processing.

Dehulled (decorticated) sunflower meal
Best fit when: When your specification needs a sunflower meal with less hull and fibre.
Check carefully: State the dehulling grade and the analysis limits in the RFQ — fully, partially and non-decorticated meals have no clear separation between grades.

Mechanically pressed (expeller) sunflower meal
Best fit when: When you specifically want an oil-rich meal from mechanical pressing rather than solvent extraction.
Check carefully: Name the extraction process and a residual-oil limit, because pressed and solvent-extracted meals are different products.

What a supplier must document
FeedMatch asks for these before an offer is presented to you. Anything a supplier has not documented stays marked as missing — it is never estimated.
- Certificate of analysis per lot (protein, moisture, fibre, fat)
- Origin and processing route
- Contaminant results where relevant (e.g. mycotoxins)
- Health or phytosanitary certificates where the route requires them
