Livestock feed
Definition
Livestock feed covers cattle, sheep, goat and swine rations, often including fibrous ingredients, molasses and by-products. It is produced as mash, pellet or complete ration.
Why it matters
Fibre and liquid inclusion reduce pellet line throughput and change equipment sizing.
When it affects procurement
When comparing suppliers whose capacity ratings assume poultry feed rather than ruminant rations.

Why is ruminant feed throughput lower?
Low-starch, high-fibre mixes pellet less easily, so the same die and motor produce fewer tons per hour.
