Dryer capacity and energy in extruded aqua feed production
In extruded aquafeed the dryer commonly determines the sustainable production rate and a large share of the operating cost. Product leaves the extruder wet and must reach a stable moisture level; the lower the product density and the more humid the ambient air, the more drying capacity each tonne consumes. Specify the dryer against your worst case — lowest-density floating product, hottest and most humid month — and require fuel type, expected energy per tonne and the moisture-control method to be stated in the quotation. A line quoted on its extruder rate alone will underperform in practice.
Energy and drying are where extruded aquafeed economics are won or lost, and where quotations are least comparable.
