Container condensation is a design problem
Temperature swings inside an ocean container condense moisture onto the roof and walls, which then drips onto cargo. Kraft liners, desiccants and ventilated containers are mitigations that must be specified and priced before booking.
Incoterms set responsibility, not condition
Incoterms allocate cost and risk transfer. They do not specify how cargo should be protected. Both need to be written: the incoterm for commercial responsibility, and the transport specification for physical protection.
应核实事项
- —Container type, lining and desiccant arrangements
- —Ventilation requirements for the material and route
- —Prior cargo history for bulk holds and tanks
- —Transit time, transhipment points and expected temperature exposure
- —Incoterm and the exact point where risk transfers
常见风险
- —Condensation damage and caking
- —Contamination from prior cargo
- —Extended transit consuming shelf life
常见错误
- —Booking on price without specifying protection
- —Assuming the incoterm covers cargo condition
常见问题
Who arranges independent inspection under CIF?
The buyer normally arranges discharge-port inspection at its own cost, because risk has already transferred. Where quality risk is significant, buyers commonly also appoint load-port supervision.

Independent inspection documents the physical condition of cargo, hold or container, packaging and loading at a defined moment, creating the evidence base for acceptance and claims.
Packaging is a technical specification: material, weight, liner, sealing, palletisation and marking determine whether the product arrives at specification and can be traced and handled safely.
Import documentation is the gating factor for customs clearance; incomplete or inconsistent paperwork holds cargo at port and generates demurrage far faster than any technical issue.
