Pre-loading condition
Holds and containers must be clean, dry, odour-free and free of residues from previous cargo. A pre-loading inspection certificate is inexpensive relative to the value of a contaminated cargo.
Moisture and self-heating
Material loaded above safe moisture continues biological activity in transit, generating heat and moisture and producing caking, mould and quality loss. Loading moisture specification is the primary control.
Evidence for claims
Pre-loading inspection, seal numbers, loading photographs, temperature records where used, and discharge condition photographs. Without these, an insurance or supplier claim is a matter of assertion.
