Feed mill modernisation and aquafeed plants in Egypt — equipment sourcing.
Egyptian poultry producers and the world's largest tilapia sector outside Asia both need more capacity from existing sites, plus new extrusion for floating feed. FeedMatch scopes those projects and compares suppliers on one specification.
- Mill modernisation
- Tilapia floating-feed extrusion
- Imported grain storage
- 5–25 t/h classes

Modernisation before greenfield
Many Egyptian mills gain the tonnes they need by fixing grinding, conditioning and cooling rather than by building. Benchmark current output against the sizing calculation first — the answer changes the budget by an order of magnitude.
Currency, financing and import scope
Where equipment is imported and revenue is local, financing structure and payment terms matter as much as price. Project financing may be available subject to buyer, project, country and lender eligibility; FeedMatch flags the options rather than promising them.
Storage and quality control
Long import cycles mean incoming-QC discipline pays for itself — urease and KOH solubility for soybean meal, TVB-N and histamine for fish meal. Build sampling points and a lab plan into the project scope.
Ingredient supply
Soybean meal, corn, fish meal and additives make up the recurring bill. FeedMatch runs the ingredient RFQ alongside the equipment project so the plant is not commissioned into an unpriced supply chain.
Short answer · reviewed August 2026
What equipment makes floating tilapia feed in Egypt?
Floating feed requires fine grinding, mixing with liquid addition, preconditioning, an extruder capable of controlled expansion, a dryer to reach 9–11% moisture, a coater for oil, then cooling, sieving and bagging. Pelleting alone cannot produce reliable flotation. Because most protein raw material is imported, storage days and intake rate belong in the same scope as the process line.
Egyptian project reference points
| Metric | Value | Unit | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Poultry mill class | 5–25 | t/h | Regional producer to integration |
| Tilapia extrusion line | 2–8 | t/h | Floating feed, 1.5–6 mm pellets |
| Raw-material cover | 30–60 | days | Import-dependent soybean meal and corn |
| Extruded moisture out | 9–11 | % | Storage stability in warm climate |
| Pelleting energy | 10–20 | kWh/t | Recipe and die dependent |

FeedMatch is a supplier-neutral sourcing platform and does not manufacture equipment. Indicative project classes only — final pricing requires a technical specification and current supplier quotations. Project financing may be available subject to buyer, project, country and lender eligibility.
