Feed mill equipment for Brazil — compound feed, pet food and modernization projects.

Brazil's poultry, swine and cattle chains run some of the largest compound feed volumes in the world, and the live decisions are capacity expansion, energy efficiency and automation retrofits. FeedMatch compares equipment manufacturers against your specification, supplier-neutral.

Expansion and modernization, not greenfield only

Much of Brazil's live demand is debottlenecking: replacing a pellet mill, adding a conditioner, upgrading dosing accuracy or automating recipe management on a plant that already runs. Scope these as defined packages with clear tie-in points, and quotations become comparable.

Pet food extrusion

Pet food is a distinct process line — extrusion, drying, coating, flavour application and packaging — with different hygiene and product-change expectations than compound feed. Do not merge the two scopes into one RFQ line item.

Energy and efficiency

With large tonnages, kWh per tonne compounds fast. Ask suppliers to state specific energy consumption at your recipe and die configuration, and to quote motor efficiency classes and drive strategy — that number, not list price, decides five-year cost.

Ingredient sourcing

Brazil produces most of its own soybean meal and corn, so the imported component is usually additives, amino acids and specialty proteins. FeedMatch prices those programmes alongside the equipment RFQ.

Short answer · reviewed August 2026

What drives feed mill CAPEX on a large Brazilian compound feed plant?

Five things dominate: installed capacity in tonnes per hour, the number of parallel grinding and pelleting lines, raw-material intake and storage volume, automation depth (recipe management, micro-dosing, traceability) and civil works. Freight, installation and commissioning add materially on imported process equipment. Energy per tonne is the operating counterpart — grinding and pelleting together typically account for most of a mill's electrical demand.

Brazil project path

Brazil → Poultry, swine & cattle → Compound feed → Pelleting → Raw-material handling → FeedMatch Group

FeedMatch is a supplier-neutral sourcing platform and does not manufacture equipment. Indicative project classes only — final pricing requires a technical specification and current supplier quotations. Project financing may be available subject to buyer, project, country and lender eligibility.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the difference between pelleting and extrusion?
Pelleting compresses conditioned mash through a die at moderate temperature, producing dense pellets for poultry, swine and cattle. Extrusion cooks under higher temperature, pressure and shear, allowing expansion, flotation control and much higher fat inclusion — necessary for aquafeed and pet food but unnecessary cost for standard compound feed.
How much does a feed mill cost in Brazil?
There is no single figure: capacity, line count, storage, automation and civil works dominate. FeedMatch provides an indicative project class and runs current supplier quotations against the specification.
Can equipment from different manufacturers be combined?
Yes, and it is common — but someone must own the process interfaces and control integration. Either appoint a main contractor or specify the tie-in responsibility explicitly in the RFQ.
Does FeedMatch manufacture equipment?
No. FeedMatch is a B2B sourcing and procurement platform connecting feed project buyers with equipment manufacturers, suppliers and project partners.
