GMP+ Feed Certification scheme (GMP+ FC)

Feed safety assurance for companies that produce, trade, store or transport feed

Issuer: GMP+ International

GMP+ FC is a private feed-safety certification scheme managed by GMP+ International. Its Feed Safety Assurance (GMP+ FSA) module sets requirements for companies by activity — production, trade, transport or storage of feed — and a separate Feed Responsibility Assurance (GMP+ FRA) module covers responsible-sourcing topics.

Applies to

  • Feed-ingredient producers and processors (for example oilseed meals, grains and by-products)
  • Compound-feed and premix producers
  • Traders, storage operators and transporters of feed

Key requirements

  • ▸A Framework document describing how the GMP+ feed-safety system works
  • ▸Requirements for companies under the GMP+ FSA module, applied to the activities in the certificate scope
  • ▸Technical Specifications (TS) with detailed requirements for particular activities or scopes
  • ▸Country Notes for national legislation or sector agreements in a specific country
  • ▸Market initiatives (MI) within the GMP+ FRA module for responsibility and sustainability topics

How buyers cite this in procurement

Buyers ask suppliers for a GMP+ certificate whose scope covers the exact activity and product being bought (producing soybean meal is not the same scope as trading or storing it), then check the company in the GMP+ company database before contracting. FeedMatch asks for the certificate in the RFQ; it does not certify, audit or verify suppliers itself.

Frequently asked

Is GMP+ a legal requirement for feed?
No. GMP+ is a private certification scheme. Legal feed requirements come from the destination's law — in the EU, for example, Regulation (EC) No 183/2005 on feed hygiene. Some buyers and markets ask for GMP+ commercially.
How do I check a supplier's GMP+ certificate?
Look the company up in the GMP+ company database on gmpplus.org and confirm that the certified scope covers the activity (production, trade, storage or transport) and the product you are buying, and that the certificate is current.
Does FeedMatch verify GMP+ certificates?
No. FeedMatch asks suppliers for their current certificate and passes it to you with the offer; you or your quality team confirm it in the scheme's own database.

For commercial farm feed buyers

Buying feed that must meet GMP+ Feed Certification scheme (GMP+ FC) for a commercial farm

Farm buyers cite GMP+ Feed Certification scheme (GMP+ FC) in the RFQ so every supplier quotes against the same requirement. FeedMatch structures that requirement and returns comparable offers from suppliers able to document compliance.

Best for
Commercial farms, integrators, distributors and feed buyers sourcing feed that must meet GMP+ Feed Certification scheme (GMP+ FC) and related feed, additives or nutrition supply on a recurring commercial scale — not pet food, hobby farms or backyard quantities.
Animal species covered
Broilers and layers, dairy and beef cattle, pigs, tilapia, salmon and shrimp, plus sheep and goats on request.
Typical feed buyer needs
A written specification, suppliers whose documents show they can hold that specification, comparable pricing on the same delivery terms, documented quality (CoA, certifications) and a supply schedule that matches production.
Bulk feed and recurring supply
Most requests are bulk or big-bag volumes on monthly or quarterly contracts. Volume per delivery, storage capacity on farm and contract length change price more than the headline per-tonne quote.
Feed additives and premix
Premix, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, organic acids, toxin binders and other additives can be quoted alongside compound feed or ingredients so one supplier comparison covers the whole ration.
What affects feed cost
Raw-material origin and specification, inclusion rates, freight and Incoterms, packaging, order volume, payment terms, currency and certification requirements. Landed cost, not ex-works price, decides the winner.
RFQ checklist
Species and production stage, tonnes per month, target specification, delivery port or farm location, packaging, required certifications, first delivery date and contract duration.
Supplier matching process
You define the requirement, FeedMatch structures the RFQ, sends it to relevant qualified suppliers, and returns comparable offers side by side so you can negotiate on equal terms.
Buyer is not charged
Farm buyers are not charged to submit a requirement, receive matched suppliers or compare quotes.

FeedMatch helps farm buyers compare feed suppliers, nutrition providers, additives suppliers and related solutions. FeedMatch is an intermediary and does not manufacture feed or provide financing directly.
