For most feed mills, integrated micro-dosing is the correct scope and a standalone premix plant is not. Premix manufacture is a precision, laboratory-intensive activity whose economics depend on volume, and below that volume the supplier's margin is cheaper than the fixed cost and quality risk of doing it yourself. Where internal volume is genuinely large, or where premix supply is unreliable or heavily taxed on import, the standalone plant becomes defensible — but it should be evaluated as a separate business case with its own laboratory, staffing and regulatory plan rather than as an extension of the mill project.
