Feed purchases and feed mill investments in Botswana are typically financed with six instruments: ECA-backed export credit, short-term commercial trade finance, sight or usance letters of credit, supplier financing, limited-recourse project finance for new plants, and government or development bank programmes. Imported ingredient shipments — soybean meal, maize, sunflower cake, fish meal and premix — are typically financed over 30 to 360 days, while a turnkey feed mill in Botswana is financed over 3 to 15 years. Non- or limited-recourse debt secured on the future cash flows of the project company. It requires a feasibility study, EPC and O&M contracts, offtake agreements, sponsor equity and an independent engineer's report.
Sovereign, development finance institution or bilateral programmes. Terms can be concessional but require alignment with a development mandate, ESG standards or local content.
